What we collect

When you submit an enquiry we collect the information you choose to provide: your name, contact details, the category of your matter, a summary of what happened, and any supporting documents you supply. We practise data minimisation — we ask only for what is needed to review, organise and, where appropriate, refer your enquiry.

MatAi conversations

Conversations with MatAi, our AI intake assistant, are processed to generate responses and to help structure your enquiry. Messages are sent securely to our AI processing provider for the sole purpose of generating a reply. Please avoid sharing highly sensitive personal details (such as health records, financial account numbers or information about third parties) in chat — the enquiry form is the appropriate route for detailed information.

Why we process your data

We process enquiry data with your consent, and where necessary for the legitimate interests of reviewing, organising and referring enquiries to appropriately regulated legal professionals. We do not sell personal data.

Sharing

Where you have consented and your matter appears suitable, relevant enquiry information may be shared with a solicitor or other regulated professional for assessment. We share only what is relevant to that purpose.

Your rights

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection, and the right to withdraw consent. To exercise any right, email enquiries@1ststeptoclaim.com. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
